We present you a selection of thirteen short stories written during our English creative writing lessons. The stories were built around a set of 10 random words, 5 of which were given by the teacher and the other 5 by a classmate. 1) Global Warming by Petra Dumanić The strangest part about my heritage is that we never use toilet paper, since my ancestors believed that it is harmful to the environment to destroy so many trees. Instead, we use cobbles. Also, thanks to global warming, we no longer need to use the cooker. Whenever we need to cook something, we go to our garden and cook it on a plate under the sun. Once, I couldn't find a plate, so I cooked some eggs in my pencil case. Our biggest hindrance is that we don't know what to do with all the debris. Since we don't use cars or planes anymore (they cause global warming), we destroyed all the roads. Now, we use animals for transport, but not cows because they release too much methane when farting. Now, I'm hiding under my tree, waiting for the temperature to drop below 67°C. Wow, what a cold winter evening! 2) Home sweet home My mother’s heritage is the only thing she has left me after her death. My brother and I have been struggling with a hindrance because of her selfish decision. The old family house was left abandoned after the fire. I regularly visit it, and when I do, I can still see the laying debris scattered around the yard that once made my home. Then I walk on the remains of the cobbled path that once circled the house and dad’s garden. Dad passed away after the fire. His lungs were so damaged they looked like two small crumbled trash bags one besides another. I was completely shattered when he gave out his last breath. At the moment of him passing away, his eyes stayed fixed on the sky that was visible through the hospital window. Then he quickly looked at me and pointed to his bag. After he was pronounced dead, I looked in the bag and found a black book. When I came home, I realized that the book was in fact mom’s diary. She had planned it all. She hated our guts so much she deliberately left the cooker on, which resulted in the fire. She even put the brick on the gas pedal of the snow machine which trapped dad in the fire. She was a coldblooded genius, that is what she left me.    3) It runs in the family by Kiara Crnošija

I'm obsessed with walruses. Last year, I went to the beach hoping to see one and just before sunset, I saw him. He looked gorgeous with big black eyes and shiny grey skin. I watched him like I was in love. At one point, I stepped into the sea to see him closer. Next thing that happened terrified me. He started to swim faster in my direction. I was very scared so I found a big cobble and threw it at him. Something was wrong, the sound wasn't right. It sounded weird, without a scream of the animal. At that moment, I realised that the whole time I was looking at a cooker surrounded by debris. It was the biggest heartbreak of my life. Afterwards, I called my shrink. He said that the whole situation is heritage from my manipulative family. I forgot to say that schizophrenia is a hindrance I've been carrying from childhood. Also, I'm not so sure any of this truly happened. Click on the titles below to read the other stories.

P. S. Na našem školskom hodniku nalazi se već tradicionalna izložba blackout poetry.
